Screen Printing 101

Crow Customs offers a large variety of Screen Printing processes to full fill any order you require.
Screen prinitng can be done for all Apparel, Shirts, Hoodies, Hats, etc. as well as stickers, signs,
posters and promotional products.

There is differnt types of screen printing most common is Spot Color, Simulated and Four Color process.
Price will range from what type of prinitng you will need and how detailed your artwork.

For those who are new to screen printing here are some common defenitions.

Screens - Each color goes on a differnt screen. The more colors in your artwork
the more cost you will incure. Being that we provide many sizes of printing, screen set up cost may vary.

Flash - after printing certain colors on appaerl it is required to use what is called a flash dryer,
so that the ink doesnt smear when prinitng the next color, or when we print on dark garments you need
a underbase color of white so the rest of your colors will be vibrant.

Process Screens - This is when printing high gradients and half tones for Photographs or other
photographic type prinitng.

Film - We seperate each color onto a piece of film which is then burned onto a silk screen with
photosensitive emulsion using ultraviolet light.

Large Formt Film - any printed film that is large than 12" x 14".

Graphic Design - Files that are sent to us in a low resolution format (anything under 300dpi) or
created with programs other than Illustrator or photoshop will usually need to be cleaned up.
Each color must be seperated on to its own layer.

Specialty Printing:

Discharge - Instead of laying ink down on a garment, this process actually takes the pigment or dye
out of the garment, creating a much softer feel.

High Density - This is the process of using capilary film in order to create a raised effect on ink
on a garment similar to puff ink. you can see example pictures on our site.

Waterbase - This is a softer ink that has waterbase as oppossed to an oil base. It is used in cases
that require a softer feel.
